Apparently it's because Hashino doesn't like the FeMC.
This is the same man who's responsible for all the sexist shit from Personas 3, 4 & 5, btw. ESPECIALLY the hot-spring scenes.

triggerbigger asked:
If someone told Sumire that she had a mental illness, how would she react? / What if a close friend suggested it? / What if a professional made an official diagnosis? / What if a close friend or relative of hers was given the diagnosis instead?
🎀 I personally headcanon Sumire suffering from depression, anxiety and C-PTSD. I have experienced all three of those and she fits the general symptoms and behaviors.
🎀 While I believe that Maruki is incompetent as a therapist/counselor, I do believe that he told her these things before changing her cognition. Both of them recognized the symptoms and that there’s a problem here, but they didn’t deal with it properly. Why struggle with grief and low self esteem when you can just pretend to be perfect? /s
🎀 Given everything that happened with Maruki, Sumire would be unlikely to visit another psychiatrist or therapist for a while after the events of Royal. Most likely she will turn to Joker, Akechi or the other Phantom Thieves when she’s struggling with her emotions or mental health.
🎀 I feel like Futaba or Haru would be the most likely to help her move on from grief and feeling like she’s not good enough. I’d also like Joker and Akechi to be really supportive/protective in their own ways.
